Between the beginning of March and the end of June 2017, around 2.5 metres of rain has fallen on the hills of the Coromandel Peninsula. There have been 182 weather related events on SH25 and SH25A since March including fallen trees, power lines down, wash outs, slips and flooding.
Crews are working continuously to clear and monitor over 120 slip sites of varying sizes and undertaking repairs to the road.
Due to the nature of the road, please continue to drive with care and be prepared for unexpected events and hazards.
